<< International Conference in "Performance: aesthetics, theory and practice"

Colloquium

Second day

10:00am - 01:00pm Gestures and posture: how to analyze the performers movements?

As with many other human activities, the work of a performer is marked by a significant corporal investment, which goes beyond the sound produced. Music and musicality cannot be separated from such investment: how can the process of performance be assessed in its entirety?

Participants: Jean-Marc Chouvel (SFAM), François Delalande (Ina-GRM), Rémy Goasdoue (musicologist), Hyacinthe Ravet (Sorbonne University).

  • 10:00am François Delalande
  • 10:50am Rémy Goasdoue
  • 11:20am Break
  • 11:35am Hyacinthe Ravet
  • 12:05am Jean-Marc Chouvel
  • 12:35-02:30pm Lunch

02:30pm - 06:00pm Reading and writing practices: the genesis of meaning

What does a score stipulate? Between the definition of the sound result and the encoding of the gests, which produce them, musical writing gives rise to heterogeneous appropriations (from reading to annotation or transcription). How have performance traditions defined the distinction between text and sound, thereby constructing the relationship with the listener?

Participants: Rémy Campos (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris), Damien Ehrhardt and Pierre-Emannuel Lephay ("Contemporary creation and artistic reflection" welcome team n° 3402, from Marc Bloch University, Strasbourg), Fabien Lévy (composer).

  • 02:00pm Rémy Campos
  • 02:50pm Damien Ehrhardt
  • 03:20pm Pierre-Emannuel Lephay
  • 03:50pm Break
  • 04:10pm Fabien Lévy

05:05pm Round table "How does performance effect a work?"

Presented by Jean-Michel Bardez (SFAM). With: Michelle Biget (to be confirmed), Pascal Gallois, Fabien Lévy, John Rink, Gianfranco Vinay.
