International "Sound and Music Computing 2004" Conference
SMC'04 is the first edition of the international conference founded by the AFIM and the AIMI. After this first year, SMC will take place alternately in Italy and France and will replace the JIM (Journées d’Informatique Musicales) and CIM (Colloquium on Musical Informatics).
The aim is to encourage exchanges beyond a national level – and particularly on a European level – around sound and computer music applications.
This year the SMC will concentrate upon interdisciplinarity and the compatibility of computer tools. Emphasis will be placed on the relationship between real and delayed time processing, signal analysis and musical writing, as well as the relationship between the sound signal, symbolic musical structures and fields of artistic expression. The first day will be dedicated to the “improvisation with computer” workshop and the two next days to scientific communications. A call for papers has been announced.
Organization
Organized by Ircam in collaboration with DMDTS of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the CNRS, the Journal of New Music Research (JNMR), the Electronic Music Foundation (EMF), the Association Française d’Informatique Musicale (AFIM) and the Association Italienne de Musique Informatique (AIMI).
