The industrial revolutions of music

The 20th century has brought about an industrial revolution in musical creation and diffusion, via the adoption of new technologies in radio diffusion, sound recording and sound processing. This constitutes both a new functional system for music, now a major player in the cultural industry and a political and economic weapon, emancipated from its past military, religious and domestic functions.
