Le Privilège des chemins by Fernando Pessoa

To put on Le Privilège des Chemins, is to accept to follow the poet into unknown dramatic territory, to accept to shed all certainties, both philosophical and artistic, in order to abandon oneself to an intimate and mysterious experience. It was our desire to place the spoken word stage-center, the spoken word as lead character, that steered us towards Ircam. Here, according to Eric Génovèse, the spoken word doesn’t relate but rather reveals.

This collaboration with the Comédie-Francaise is part of a research project into performance technologies, set up by Ircam with the support of the Ministry of Culture. The aim of this project is to develop technologies suitable for use by different art forms such as dance, theatre and installations, simultaneously combining Ircam’s main research interests. Today, the project is concentrated on gestural concerns, notably concerning dance and musical performance, the voice and its transformation in concert/theatrical situations and spatialization.
